Supervision of Crisis Risk Management


This 2-hour continuing education workshop provides licensed clinical psychologists with essential skills for supervising crisis intervention and risk assessment in clinical practice. Participants will learn evidence-based approaches to guiding supervisees through suicide risk assessments, duty to warn decisions, and emergency interventions while maintaining appropriate legal and ethical standards. The workshop combines interactive case studies with practical supervision strategies to help supervisors effectively support both client safety and supervisee professional development during high-stakes clinical situations.

 

Objectives


  • Participants will be able to name key supervision strategies for guiding supervisees through suicide risk assessments and emergency interventions.

  • Participants will be able to cite legal and ethical obligations specific to supervising crisis intervention, including duty to warn situations and documentation requirements.

 

About the Presenter


Ashley Mezzasalma, Psy.D.   is a licensed clinical psychologist with eight years of experience specializing in psychological assessment, crisis intervention, and forensic neuropsychology. She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from The Wright Institute and holds a double major in psychology and anthropology from UC Berkeley. Dr. Mezzasalma brings extensive experience from her tenure at Kaiser Permanente, where she served in multiple clinical roles including crisis walk-in appointments, emergency department assessments for psychiatric emergencies, and comprehensive psychodiagnostic and neuropsychological evaluations. She demonstrated leadership in program development by establishing and running the assessment program and developing the adult ADHD program. Her clinical expertise encompasses triage services, comprehensive intake assessments, and innovative program design. Currently, Dr. Mezzasalma works with Psychological Assessment, Inc., where she conducts forensic neuropsychological evaluations. Her diverse clinical background positions her uniquely to provide thorough, evidence-based assessments across a wide range of psychological and neuropsychological conditions.
