About the event

Course Description:

This course is designed to train entry level practitioners how to score the SARATSO mandated violence/general offense risk instrument, the Level of Services Case Management Inventory (LS/CMI). Attendees will learn about the items/factors that are the basis of the instrument, which includes a list of actuarial and dynamic risk factors, the underlying psychological factors for each factor, and the criteria for scoring the factor and how to identify and analyze the data associated with scoring each item. The interpretation of the instrument includes risk estimates and risk-levels for use in court settings, and informs the use of the risks-needs responsivity principal, in relation to dosage, intensity and targets of treatment. The attendees will practice scoring cases during the class and take a post-test at the end of the class to evidence proficiency in scoring.

Goals/Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to accurately score the LS/CMI

  • Learn how to read a RAP sheet

  • Learn to submit the score to GEARS and Probation/Parole

  • Learn to generate a computer profile report for submission to Probation/Parole

  • Identify ways to use the LS/CMI to guide the Containment Team
